Sump Pump Floods Basement
The water in this finished basement was the result of a sump pump that failed. This is a frequent issue in homes that have basements in high water table neighborhoods. Much of New Jersey is considered a high water table, especially homes near water estuaries such as the Meadowlands and Passaic and Hackensack Rivers. And unfortunately, when water in a finished basement sits, the sheet rock will soak up the water like a sponge. In these photos you can see the water-soaked carpeting, which needed to be completely ripped up, and sheet rock needed to be removed halfway up the wall. SERVPRO of Hackensack/Little Ferry was quick to respond, and helped keep the damage from getting worse.
