Ceiling Water Damage Repair
Water can wreak havoc on any surface, but sheet rock is especially susceptible because it soaks water like a sponge. Usually once wet, sheet rock must be removed due to the fact that it may not dry thoroughly or may bow or break due to water saturation. Peeling layers of sheet rock and/or paint can also be a sign of water damage. The accompanying pictures are of a ceiling damaged from a water loss in an upstairs bathroom. After cutting out the damaged sheet rock, the area was dried with a dehumidifier and prepped with an antimicrobial to prevent mold growth.
